Anna Maria, an art history teacher, had extensive knowledge of antiques and period furniture. Much of the hotel’s furniture was crafted according to design plans created by Anna Maria herself. The result was exceptional, and the mansion remained true to the Portuguese colonial style, while incorporating charm and comfort into its historic architecture. Around the mansion, centuries-old trees provide shade, and flowerbeds add color to the garden paths, where the sounds of birds and the clip-clop of horses pulling carriages along the cobblestone street can be heard. Over the years, two expansions were carried out. The hotel gained a swimming pool, sauna, and library, as well as a gastronomic hall.
