FUELLING THE TREEATHLON
“This challenge allowed me to
experiment and explore new nutritional protocols. I looked
at research that’s been done into sustaining energy for a long
period of time by using a fat (avocados, nuts, coconut oil)
and carbohydrate (sports drinks, pasta, oats, rice, bread)
dual approach, rather than just carbs. I created a variety of
recipes that allowed me to train up to 12 hours a day.”
FINISH LINE
“I crossed the finish line in 3:25:34
with a kind of whole body fatigue I’ve never
experienced before. I was bruised, battered and
missing some skin off my back from where the
tree had rubbed, but so happy to have made
friends and shared a unique experience!”
